John Gregorius: Bio

John Gregorius

I've played with or produced many Orange County bands and artists, but my current music has little to do with this history. I really have to go back to the first time I picked up a guitar. It was a nylon string and it wasn't long before I fell in love with fingerstyle guitar. Steve Hackett from Genesis and Steve Howe from Yes inspired me with their ability to sing on electric and perform beautiful classical pieces. Later I discovered Phil Keaggy and was in awe. Along the way a deep love for ambient (or contemplative) music grew. At the present, my own love for fingerstyle guitar and ambient music has come together. The music, though, is part of a larger spritual quest. I'm understanding contemplation is important beyond measure and my hopes are that my music will help promote this in peoples lives." The following is a description, as best can be written, of my faith.

“My faith is a process of following, knowing and experiencing the healing and life giving Creator. My experience of God has been through Jesus, from whom I've received life abundantly. My understanding of doctrine, though, has changed drastically. I used to see Christ as a ticket to heaven. I now see faith as a journey and God is much more merciful and loving than I could imagine. Having all the right answers isn't as important as living in the beautiful way of God's love. I believe we are called to become a people who bring the light of heaven to earth. We are simply to love God with all our hearts and love our neighbor. If this were to happen, injustice would turn to equality...grudge to forgiveness...death to life.
More and more, my deepest desire is to live as a light in the world."
